Archive: what used to be at this address
If you followed an old link here, you were probably looking for a competition website that no longer exists.
From around 2003 to 2016, the address nbs.org.nz was home to the website of a volunteer-run national bouldering series in New Zealand. In its early years the site promoted outdoor rounds held on real rock over summer weekends. Later it moved to a content-managed site with news, rules and results, and from about 2010 it also covered an indoor series held in climbing gyms. The last versions of the site focused on that indoor series. After 2016 the domain lapsed.
NZ Bouldering Notes is a new and separate site. We are an independent group of editors. We are not the old organisers, the New Zealand Alpine Club, Climbing New Zealand, the national indoor series or any climbing gym, and we don't hold or republish the old site's results, photos, documents or contact details.
A short timeline, in our words
- 2003 to 2008: a small hand-built site for a national bouldering series held outdoors, with rounds on limestone near Waitomo, on the Wellington south coast and in the Castle Hill basin.
- 2010 to 2013: a newer site with news, rules and results for the outdoor series, and an indoor series running alongside it from 2010.
- March 2014: a bouldering-meets-rogaining event at Kura Tāwhiti, widely described as the first bouldergaine. We have written a fresh account of the format.
- 2014 to 2016: the site concentrated on the national indoor series.

Where to go today
For current competitions, entry details and dates, check the organisers' site. The national indoor bouldering series has its official series site. The national federation for competition climbing is Climbing New Zealand.
